Your Waist Matters Weight Loss Program

This dynamic ten-week course is designed to help educate you about the latest health information essential for you to lose weight successfully and keep it off. Each week you’ll learn to recognize and change unhealthy behaviors, develop motivation and be provided with the support and encouragement you need to make a change in your life.

Blood Pressure and Diet
Tuesday May 7, 5:30-7:00pm
The DASH diet can be an effective way to control blood pressure without medication. The diet focus is a balance of healthy foods and can be easy to follow. The effect of lower blood pressure can be seen in as little as two weeks! Participants will also receive a sodium shopping tour at Hannafords Supermarket. FREE!
Healthy Blood Sugar Control: A Supermarket Guide to Monitoring Carbohydrates
Tuesdays, May 21 or June 25, 5:30-7:00pm
This class will help you identify sources of foods with carbohydrates, how to balance them during your day to have the best effect on your blood sugar levels. A shopping tour will also take place during the class. FREE!
Heart Healthy Shopping Tours
Tuesdays, May 14 or June 11, 5:30-7:00pm
This class will focus on specific heart healthy diets that are low in saturated fats and high in fiber. In addition, participants will receive information on sources of omega-3’s and plant sterols. The class will also take a guided tour of Hannafords Supermarket. FREE!

Diets promising quick and dramatic weight loss are always popular. Some fads do help people to shed those much needed pounds, but more often than not, the results aren’t sustainable and the methods used to lose weight aren’t safe. Join Sarah McCoy, RD, LD, CNSC, Krista Machon, RD, LD and Marilou Bucciano, RD, LD as they take a look at many popular diet fads and break down the pros and cons of each. $10, includes a healthy dinner.

Figuring Out Food Labels

Knowing how to read food labels is important if you have health conditions, such as high blood pressure or cholesterol. The more practice you get reading food labels, the better you can become in using them as a tool to plan your healthy, balanced diet and for making healthier cooking choices. Join us as Registered Dietitian Elizabeth Whalen and Executive Chef David Bressler take you through label reading and how to transform a recipe into a healthier version. FREE!

Fit and Young for Life: A Strength and Balance Training Program for seniors
Various classes and times are offered in Nashua, Milford, Merrimack and Hudson.
This program is designed for those 55 and older who would like assistance in maintaining muscle strength, flexibility and functionality. Call for more information, class locations and times. Fee: $50
Low-Impact Aerobics
Mondays and Thursdays, April 29-August 1 or August 5 – October 31 5:00-6:00 PM
Low-impact aerobics are good for people just starting an exercise program. Classes are conducted at a slow pace and combine fat-burning aerobics with muscle-building exercises and stretching. Fee: $55
Strength and Conditioning
Tuesdays, June 4 - July 9, or July 23 - August 27 5:45-6:45 PM
This class will help you burn fat, gain strength in your upper and lower body and inrease balance and stamina. Improve your fitness level in a fun, non-judgmental environment. Fee: $50 for a 6-week session.
